White Lung

"Snake Jaw"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 22, 2014

Just ahead of the release of White Lung's new Deep Fantasy LP, the Vancouver/L.A. punk crew will treat a couple of its songs to a 7-inch release. We'd already heard the A-side, "Drown with the Monster", and now the band have shared the speedy flip side, "Snake Jaw."

The track plays to White Lung's strengths, flinging Kenneth William's serpentine six-string licks around the high-gear drum rumble of Anne-Marie Vassiliou. Vocalist Mish Way sings and rasps her way through lines regarding society's obsession with body image, telling Rookie Mag, "It's that battle we're constantly fighting. BETTER, THINNER, PRETTIER. Being crippled by a hatred for your own body — why? How did that happen to our fucking culture?"

Domino releases "Drown with the Monster" and "Snake Jaw" onto a 7-inch next Tuesday (April 29), while both tracks also appear on the forthcoming Deep Fantasy, which is due June 17.
