Root music sweethearts Whitehorse typically sing in English, but they're releasing a French-language EP called Éphémère sans repère on April 1 through Six Shooter Records. Until then, fans can stream the whole thing on Exclaim.ca.
Four of these six songs appeared on past Whitehorse albums in English form. The new versions were translated by musical Montrealer Pierre Marchand. Aside from the French lyrics, this still sounds very much like Whitehorse, as Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland harmonize over graceful folk-rock arrangements laced with twangy electric guitar leads.
In addition to Francophone versions of previous Whitehorse songs, the album includes a new song called "Le cadeau" and a 19th century ballad called "Un Canadien errant." Stream the whole thing below.
UPDATE: This stream was available for one week only and is no longer available.
