Hot on the heels of Whitehorse's recent The Road to Massey Hall EP, the folksy duo of Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland are preparing to drop another stopgap release in the form of a 7-inch for Record Store Day (April 20).
The vinyl single will arrive through Six Shooter Records. The A-side is a live-in-studio performance of "Devil's Got a Gun," which was recorded with a full band at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, ON. The original version of the track appeared on last year's The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss.
On the flip is a version of "Lipstick," which Doucet used to perform with his band Veal. (We're guessing that this is same song that was originally called "I Hate Your Lipstick.) According to a press release, this version "brings Luke Doucet's back-catalogue bossa nova gem back to life in humid Whitehorse fashion. The song showcases all that sweltering chemistry that has come to define Whitehorse on stage and on disc. "
These songs will be pressed on white wax, so fans are advised to keep their eyes peeled on Record Store Day.
