Chicago duo Whitney have shared two new songs from their upcoming fourth album SPARK — much like lead single "REAL LOVE," new tracks "TWIRL" and "BLUE" find the band exploring a more pop-minded, airborne sound than their folk-indebted previous work.
"With 'TWIRL,' John Congleton and Brad Cook really created the framework for us to explore a new palette," the band said in a statement. "What started as a simple love song grew into a wider take on human connection that we feel lucky to have made."
About the swift-footed "BLUE," Whitney said the track came about "at what I would now call 'peak isolation' in the beginning of 2021. In hindsight it's clear that we were attempting to manifest a different set of circumstances through the fantasy of love."
SPARK arrives September 16 on Secretly Canadian. It's the follow-up to 2019's Forever Turned Around. Check out "BLUE" and "TWIRL" below.
