The Wilderness of Manitoba Map Out Canadian Spring Dates, New EP

The Wilderness of Manitoba released their latest album, Island of Echoes, in 2012, but the busy Toronto folk act are already back with another batch of tour dates and a U.S.-only EP.

The band will be south of the border this month for SXSW and a stop in New York, but they'll be back in their home and native land by the end of the month. Following a Toronto gig for Canadian Music Week, they will play shows throughout Canada's eastern half in April and May. These shows will feature the band's newest member, bassist Wes McClintock.

See the schedule below.

As the the aforementioned EP, it's called The Leslieville Sessions, and it was recorded live off the floor at Revolution Recording in Toronto with no overdubs.

"We spent one day, from noon to 1 a.m., recording these songs," said the band's Amanda Balsys in a statement. "We really wanted to put out something that reflected the feel of the live band with its new members."

The EP includes three songs by frontman Will Whitwham, one by Balsys called "Yellow Yard," and a cover of John Martyn's "Head and Heart." Scroll past the tracklist to hear the EP version of "A Year in Its Passing" (a song that originally appeared on Island of Echoes).

Unfortunately for Canadians, The Leslieville Sessions is currently slated to come out in the U.S. on April 9, and there's no word as to when or if it will come out here at home.

The Wilderness of Manitoba plan to release a video for the Island of Echoes track "Echoes" soon.
