Earlier this year, we reported that UK grime pioneer Wiley teamed up with Diplo to record Evolve or Be Extinct, a follow-up EP to his album 100% Publishing. Months passed and nothing showed up, but the release is confirmed to be out in January and will now be a full-length album.
According to record label Big Dada, Wiley recorded so much material that "his fans will receive two CDs, the second with eight further tracks on it." They imprint also calls it "the best album (so far!) of this unique artist's career," adding that "Wiley has never made a record which reveals so much of his character, his contradictions and inner workings, his humour as well as his anger."
Evolve or Be Extinct will be released on January 19, which is Wiley's birthday. In addition to production from Wiley himself, it will also include two beats from Mark Pritchard. The title track can be streamed below.
Thanks to XLR8R for the tip.
