After opening for label bosses Sloan two nights in a row, Will Currie and the Country French played one at the El Mocambo for good measure. Currie excused their voices for sounding like a "sour Amanda Marshall" as opposed to what he first thought might be a "good Janis Joplin," but no apology was needed. The sextet from Waterloo still sounded spot on, and their upbeat brand of pop rock even managed to get some people dancing. That plus the catcalls heard from the crowd are proof that Will Currie and the Country French are sure to stick around.
