William Ryan Key came to prominence as frontman and guitarist of pop punks Yellowcard. Now the singer-songwriter is back without a band, plucking and strumming on his acoustic guitar in a much folkier way.
Exclaim! TV's No Future recently met up with him at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre, where he was on tour with New Found Glory (for whom he now plays guitar) to film some songs.
As you will witness below, the performance stands as a testament to Key's talent; no studio trickery is needed here. The songs — lead single "Vultures" and the guilt-laden "Old Friends" — also feel that much more vulnerable without the subtle synths that fill out the studio versions on his Thirteen EP.
