Back in February, Michigan noisesmiths Wolf Eyes announced an upcoming full-length called No Answer as a four 7-inch set through American Tapes, with info on CD and LP editions to follow. Those versions of the effort, now redubbed No Answer: Lower Floors, will arrive April 9 through De Stijl.
As previously reported, the group's current line-up of Nate Young, John Olson and guitarist Jim Baljo homes in on "tight simplified steady slow burning electronics/guitar/tapes/reeds unheard before in the canon of the band." The record also features contributions from former members Aaron Dilloway and Mike Connelly.
A press release explains that the six-song set was recorded and mixed at the Michigan Underground Group's gambling/clubhouse/art space. While apparently tugging at the sound of past work, the new LP "goes much further in detailing their underworld of odd melodies and mangled harmonics." Ahead of schedule, the album is being streamed now over at Pitchfork.
The trio also have some European dates scheduled, which you can see beneath No Answer: Lower Floors' tracklisting.
