Wolves in the Throne Room

"Celestite Mirror"

As previously reported, Wolves in the Throne Room's upcoming Celestite LP will have the band toning down the brutality in favour of a more "ethereal approach." To prove their point, they've issued an ambient, organ-soaked stream of the set's "Celestite Mirror."

If you're a fan of the band's beautiful but morose black metal soundscapes you're in for a surprise, as the piece delivers little in the way of screeched vocals or virulent drum blasts. Instead, we get something akin to an early '80s sci-fi soundtrack, with evocative and eerie synth melodies floating alongside the sounds of a summer mist and a passage mixing Dimetapp-drip guitar damage, gothic organs and a regal brass section.

The companion piece to 2011's Celestial Lineage, Celestite arrives through the band's own Artemisia Records on July 8. They'll also be heading out on tour this summer, and you can find all the West Coast show info here.
