Wooden Shjips Drop Christmas-Themed Twelve-Inch

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 16, 2010

If you're into droning, minimalist psych-rock, San Francisco quartet Wooden Shjips are one of the best bands going. Even spaced-out jam rockers get into the holiday spirit, however, which the group have done with an appropriately festive limited twelve-inch record.

The disc features a cover of "Oh Tannenbaum" on the A-side and "Auld Lang Syne" on the B-side. Both tracks were originally available on a 2008 cassette, but there's practically no chance you own that release as it was intended for friends and family only. As a press release explains, "each side of the twelve-inch is eight minutes plus of West Coast groove-laden egg-nog supping reindeer shaking stocking stuffing krautrock drenched seasonal fuzz."

The "Oh Tannenbaum/Auld Lang Syne" twelve-inch is available now via Sick Thirst. The record is available on green or red vinyl, and limited to 500 copies for each colour. The record can be ordered here, while "O Tannenbaum" can be streamed below.
