I think I may have already said this once before but I'm not a big fan of cover versions. I'd much rather hear an original song. But there are some exceptions. If I was ever asked to provide a list of songs I'd like to hear covered to a list of artists that I'd like to perform them, well, I'm pretty sure that somewhere high on that list would be Toronto's Woodhands tackling something like, oh, I dunno, Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue." And what d'ya know, they've gone and done it.
Is it everything I wished it would be? You bet. Synths spraying laser beams, the most erratic rhythm any human is capable of (Paul Banwatt is Animal in the flesh), Dan Werb screaming like the Avenue in question electrocuted him, and robots taking over in the studio just like sci-fi nerds have always predicted they will. Can you dance to it? Well, they aren't known for bringing sweaty back for nothin'.
