Let's face it, touring in a van kind of sucks. It's cramped, smelly, expensive, bad for the environment and the van inevitably breaks when you're in the middle of nowhere with a show to get to that night. Well, later this month, members of Woodpigeon (pictured), the Mountains and the Trees and the Phonemes will be leaving the van at home when they embark on a joint tour by train.
The tour is appropriately called the Ribbon Rail Review. Of the method of transport, singer Magali Meagher of the Phonemes explains in a press release, "Travelling by rail gives us an opportunity to bring our music to far flung towns and cities, in a climate-friendly and affordable way."
The tour will feature solo sets from the three acts, with Meagher travelling with singers Mark Hamilton (Woodpigeon) and Jon James (the Mountains and the Trees). The musicians will perform stripped-down sets in 16 different cities from coast to coast. See the schedule below.
