A cold, cold winter has turned Woolworm to the dark side, it would seem. Following their alt-rock inspired Everything Seems Obvious EP, the Vancouver band have offered up a grim, distorted, and screamed digital EP titled Vampirism to close out 2015. The significantly shadowier, sinister side of Woolworm can be heard online now.
While the act had previously trafficked in their patented brand of sad-sack "blanket rock," it'll only take a second or two of first track "World Is Too White" to realize the outfit have gone through some significant changes. Contained within are bleak, brooding cries, gut-stomping beats and an onslaught of detuned riffs. "Anguish" offers a bit more of the same, placing the band somewhere between a thugged-up hardcore sound and that of a melodic and moribund black metal brigade.
Considering Woolworm's Bandcamp page offers up genre tags that include "very macabre" and "negative vibrations," this could be a bit of a goof, but it's worth checking out all the same. You'll find both songs down below.
