Wretched

The Exodus of Autonomy

BY Denise FalzonPublished Apr 13, 2010

A death metal band on Victory? The credibility of Charlotte, NC's Wretched is already in question. But the sticker on their debut album, The Exodus of Autonomy, reads: "Gore! Violence! Destruction!" So it's got to be good, right? Sadly, it's false advertising. This record is deathcore at its most over-processed state, sounding exactly like the Black Dahlia Murder, except it's chock-full of unoriginal riffs and weak breakdowns. That's all there is to it; simplicity and badly recycled song composition is the name of the game here. Seems Victory is just capitalizing on deathcore's current popularity with kids too young to know better. But if you are one of these kids who wears ridiculously tight jeans, has that side-swept hair do and doesn't know who the hell Peter Tägtgren is then Wretched's The Exodus of Autonomy should be right up your alley.
