Feminist electro trio Le Tigre have pretty much fallen off the radar in the last five years, as all three members have been exploring other projects. And while it doesn't seem like too many people noticed their absence, it appears that the group will be returning with a new, much more famous collaborator. According to an initial tweet by Perez Hilton, later confirmed to Pitchfork by the band's publicist, Le Tigre have been in the studio with none other than Christina Aguilera.
While the details of the collaboration are foggy, to say the least, it will be interesting to see what becomes of this bizarre mash-up. More likely than not, the work will appear on an upcoming Aguilera record, as a recent Le Tigre blog post by Kathleen Hanna suggested that the band are basically inactive at this point.
She did specify, however, that they're working on a DVD. "We're hoping to have it out by next year," she said. As for the band's future, she clarified: "Will we ever write another album? I don't know. Will we ever play a show again? I don't know. But I still feel like Jo and JD are my band-mates so to me, that means we are still a band even if all we are doing at the moment is making a DVD. I know it sounds cheesy to say 'we're on hiatus,' maybe 'sabbatical' would be a better word. Either way, I am loving my time off and think it is a great thing to change things up now and again."
