Yeasayer Announce 'Fragrant World' LP

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 22, 2012

Experimental Brooklyn popsters Yeasayer have announced the release of their new album Fragrant World, marking the follow-up to 2010's Odd Blood.

The upcoming record was previously described by the band as a "demented R&B album," and it is now slated to arrive August 21 via Secretly Canadian.

As expected, the recently released track "Henrietta" appears on the new record, as does "Devil and the Deed," which the group performed on Conan almost a year ago.

Fragrant World was recorded in Brooklyn, between Mexican Summer's studio and Plaintain Studio, and according to a press release, delivers "something much weirder and darker" than Yeasayer's previous efforts.

A while back, singer and keyboardist Chris Keating claimed that he was "writing from a more depressing and darker perspective," inspired by "a lot of shitty things going on in the world lately" -- so it seems that is still the case for the new material.
