Yo La Tengo are a long-running act, to be sure. In fact, they are about to begin celebrating their 30th anniversary as a band this year, and part of those festivities include a lavish reissue of their much-loved 1993 album Painful. Going under the title Extra Painful, it's due out on December 2 through Matador.
This version is split across two discs — either CDs or LPs — with the first containing Painful (in its original form and not remastered) and the second featuring a batch of outtakes. This encompasses demos, live cuts and a few unreleased tracks.
The double-vinyl version also includes a 7-inch with the 1993 single "Shaker" (and "For Shame of Doing Wrong" on the B-side). Awesomely, both the CD and vinyl versions come with a download coupon for 15 extra bonus tracks (12 of which have been previously unreleased). These don't come with the digital download, and the bonus tracklist hasn't been announced.
The vinyl package additionally comes with photos, liner notes by the band, a sticker, and what is apparently the first issue of the band's YLT Gazette zine in 14 years.

These are mostly in the U.S., but the band will play Vancouver on November 12 as part of the PuSh Festival. Also, Yo La Tengo are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a series of US. shows.
