Texas alt-rock mainstays …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead have announced yet another LP to add to their noisy and melodic catalogue, revealing that their IX lands November 11 via new Canadian label home Dine Alone. The record lands the same day in the U.S. via Superball Music, who will also put the album out a little earlier overseas on October 20.
A press release confirms that while the band issued their Tao of the Dead Part 3 EP earlier in the year, the cleverly titled ninth full-length effort from the veteran crew marks their first proper LP since 2012's Lost Songs. The Austin ensemble recorded their new album earlier in the spring, though few details exist at this point regarding the tracklist.
The band did, however, issue a rather grand and poetic statement regarding the conception of this latest work. It reads:
From the crowded streets of Phnom Penh to the vast empty landscape of West Texas...we have cut through...burned through...and followed through to reach you. From the heat of the desert...to the heat of your city's sprawling squall...this transmission is here to transport and ruin you. It is the release of your mortal coil. Just let the rain wash it away from the mountains...down to the motherfucking sea...wash it away...blow it all away and check this moment out.
In addition, you can check out an interactive puzzle that, when completed, will show off the cover art, which was prepped by the band's Conrad Keely. You can check that out over here.
…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead also announced a European tour with Your Favorite Enemies and Midnight Masses, the new project from TOD's Jason Reece and Autry Fulbright.
