Rising Vancouver rapper Young Braised has enjoyed some online success with his brand of jokey-but-not-joking rap tracks, a trend that should continue with the release of his excellent new Big Trouble in Little China EP.
The six-song short-player is packed with Braised's playful lyrics, including a near constant stream of snack shout-outs. Then, on the opening of "Love Jones," he offers a verbatim quote from Eminem's "Lose Yourself." It's the sort of endless referencing that the Internet was practically invented for.
