Young Galaxy

Though the boy/girl tag team vocals and celestial band name invite too-easy comparisons to songwriter Stephen Ramsay’s guitar gig with Stars, Young Galaxy deserve to be judged on their own merits. Ramsay and his harmonising girlfriend Catherine McCandless craft a soft-touch sound that is primarily about, as they sing in their should-be hit single, "Swinging Your Heartache.” Though the group started out as a studio project, they’ve already gelled quite nicely into a crack live ensemble, injecting some wisely considered toughness into the shoegazing compositions. Though this was but a mid-afternoon set at the annual opening day Canadian BBQ, the eager young group shone as bright as a supernova.
