Vintage-inspired indie rockers Zeus return with their third studio album Classic Zeus on September 2, but you can stream it in its entirety right now at Exclaim.ca right now.
Mellowing out a bit after the ferocious, fuzzed-out rock'n'roll and extensive touring touring schedule of 2012's Busting Visions, the new album was recorded at the band's III Eagle studio in their hometown of Toronto and sees the band refocus on their songwriting roots.
With members freely sharing writing duties and swapping instrumental roles, Classic Zeus has culminated in what the band claim is their most "concise and collaborative" effort yet.
Sunshine-y pop is fully embraced on previously released single "Miss My Friends," while the crunchy guitars of the last record reappear on "You Could Have a Lover." Overall, the album delivers solid, but laid-back, harmony-driven pop tunes — a welcome change of pace that showcases another side to the group's music making.
Zeus will embark on a North American tour in support of the new material, and you can see those dates below. Classic Zeus arrives next week via Arts & Crafts, but you can scroll past the upcoming shows to give it a spin right now if you're in Canada.
