Love-stuck indie boys everywhere are celebrating as Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard have reportedly announced their split after two years of marriage. That's right fellas, Zooey is back on the market.
Deschanel and Gibbard married in September 2009, but a source told Us Weekly that the two have now separated, confirming the news with "Deschanel's rep."
The source said that the break-up "was mutual and amicable" and that "there was no third party involved."
By the sounds of things, this split wasn't anywhere near as venomous as the one in Deschanel's film (500) Days of Summer. But this still might give Gibbard the emotional fodder for some oh-so-sensitive emo tunes for Death Cab's next album, whenever that might arrive.
In addition to being a successful actress, Deschanel has endeared herself to dudes everywhere for being the titular female in She & Him, her collaboration with guitarist M. Ward. The pair just released the holiday-themed A Very She & Him Christmas last week (October 25).
