Australian rocker Alex Lahey appeared on Triple J's Like a Version last week for a cover of My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade." Last night (September 24), the cover caught the eye of MCR frontman Gerard Way.
In an Instagram post, Way praised Lahey for her dedication to the cover. "What I appreciate about Alex and Co's Parade cover," the emo icon said in the post, "is how much they really went for it, and with all of the additional instruments (those cymbals!) and everyone singing and just smiling and having a good time. Really amazing performance."

Lahey also performed her own track "Misery Guts" for the show. The song was the lead single from her sophomore album The Best of Luck Club, released earlier this year.
Gerard Way has been busy working on the third volume his graphic novel series "The Umbrella Academy." His latest musical release was 2018's "Baby You're a Haunted House."
