This weekend, the Black Keys will appear on Austin City Limits, and the blues-duo-turned-arena-stars have previewed the set with a couple of performance clips.
"Gotta Get Away" [which comes via Spin] sports crunchy boogie guitar strums, although it sounds more like Bachman-Turner Overdrive than an actual classic bluesman. The hook is catchy and it's bolstered by two extra backing players, but the boneheaded assertion that "all the good women are gone" doesn't help in terms of making this song seem less out of date. On the other hand, the circus organ riff of "Fever" helps brighten its dark, slinky grooves. Both tunes comes from last year's Turn Blue.
Check the videos out below. The Black Keys' episode of Austin City Limits will be on PBS tomorrow (January 31), and we can expect the full set to be online around the same time.
