Hamilton hardcore heroes Counterparts have surprise-released a new EP called Heaven Let Them Die. Available digitally and for physical pre-order through Pure Noise Records, the six-track collection is the follow-up to the band's 2022 album, A Eulogy for Those Still Here.
"Heaven Let Them Die is Counterparts at our most aggressive — sonically, lyrically and visually," vocalist Brendan Murphy said of the project, which was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio.
Murphy continued, "Picking up where Eulogy ended, Heaven Let Them Die details how I came to terms with all I had foreshadowed in the previous release and how that led me to where I am now. This EP is the most authentic representation of Counterparts to date — honest, harsh and without restraint."
The EP lands alongside a two-part music video for opener "A Martyr Left Alive" and "No Lamb Was Lost," directed and edited by Eric Richter — which, despite all the blood and gore, the band promise that no people, animals or buildings were harmed in the making of.
