You might know him as a former member of A Tribe Called Red. You might know him as a founder and innovator of, and leader in, powwow step. Regardless, DJ Shub was a main attraction last night at Capital Iron, just off of Riff's Electric Avenue. Along with West coast Indigenous hip-hop pioneer Manik 1derful, DJ Shub schooled the crowd in mixology — with a lick of the fingers, eyes on the crowd, DJ Shub scratched meticulously atop powwow step, licks of electro unspooling around him.

A new, unnamed track brought him to the front to briefly film the reaction of the crowd, 4/4 pounds, electro drops, and slick snaps of snare abounding, while Manik 1derful dropped his bruised vocals on top.

Then lo... a generator/laptop/battery shut down, stalling the show for a few, but the crowd simply took the time to cheer relentlessly. The hiccup was actually a positive, showing the devotion of those in attendance towards two of the biggest in Indigenous music.
