Atmospheric folk rockers Great Lake Swimmers have announced a new album. Uncertain Country arrives on April 28 through Harbour Songs / Fontana, and the group have shared two songs as a preview.

A press release notes that Uncertain Country is comprised of musical field recordings captured throughout the Niagara region, where band leader Tony Dekker lives. The project began four years ago, on a trip to Lake Superior's north shore.

Listeners can get a taste of what this sounds like with "When the Storm Has Passed" and "Moonlight, Stay Above." The former is a wistful rocker with a hint of distorted grit, while the latter is a hymnal folk ballad with choral backing.

Hear both songs below, including a video for "Moonlight, Stay Above" that shows how it was recorded in a church.

Uncertain Country is Great Lake Swimmers' first album since 2018's The Waves, the Wake.
