Lamb of God were planning on taking the rest of 2014 off. And really, who'd have blamed them? After vocalist Randy Blythe's trying time at the hand of what he calls a "gated community," the rest would surely be welcome. Still, upon receiving an invitation to play Heavy Montreal, which they'd played prior when it was going by the abbreviated "MTL," the took a break from their break. Judging from the crowd's reaction to their set, the decision was much appreciated.

Apparently prison doesn't always harden a man. It was unclear whether it was alcohol or Blythe — whose wiry frame and scraggly hair make him look like the criminal the Czech court system decided he is not — that brought out the fun-loving side in the stereotypically stern metalheads. A call for the crowd to repeat back "Bwoo!" was met without hesitance and an image of the Trailer Park Boys' Jim Lahey popped up on the video screens behind an exclamation of his name, a nod to Canada that was only furthered when they closed out the set bathed in red light, Blythe draped in a Canadian flag. Still, despite all the "Redneck" fun, the performance itself was rock solid and the devotion with which the audience responded indicated that, if asked to, they would surely walk with Lamb of God in Hell.
