Liam Finn Hits Up Canada on North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 11, 2011

Though New Zealand popster Liam Finn spent much of last year focusing on BARB, the Kiwi collective who released their self-titled debut back in August, the musician is at heart a solo artist. Back in 2008, the singer-songwriter dropped the delightful I'll Be Lightning, a stirring set of pop rockers and gentle ballads that brought to mind the work of Elliott Smith and Sean Lennon. His spritely voice also hinted at his heritage (he's the son of Crowded House leader Neil Finn). While the younger Finn hasn't quite put the finishing touches on his sophomore record, he's ready to take some new tunes on the road.

The troubadour will be bringing his music to North America this spring, with Canadian dates schedule for Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. Though past trips have seen him play either by himself or with collaborator Eliza Jane Barnes, with whom he recorded the Champagne in Seashells EP, this trek will feature a full band. You can check out the tour dates below.

While neither a name nor a tracklisting exists at present time for Finn's new album, his label Yep Roc confirms that Finn's new record will be out this spring.
