Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty to serious federal weapons charges that could see him being sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The rapper entered his guilty plea today during a hearing in Miami, with sentencing now scheduled for next month, TMZ reports.

As previously reported, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida had charged the rapper with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

During the 2019 incident, police say they found a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-calibre handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition. Police also claim they found a bag containing personal use amounts of cocaine, ecstasy and oxycodone.

While Lil Wayne faces 10 years in prison, TMZ points out that the court is likely to show leniency due to him pleading guilty and accepting responsibility.

This also isn't Lil Wayne's only legal problem right now, as he's facing a $20 million USD lawsuit from a former manager who claims he's owed unpaid commissions.
