Current prog champs the Mars Volta have finally revealed the details of their long-awaited fifth studio album. Titled Octahedron, the album will feature eight tracks and be out on June 23 via Warner Bros. (Here's hoping it's more in tune with De-Loused in the Comatorium than The Bedlam in Goliath.)
It's kind of amazing that the band found time to record a new studio album, what with guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez releasing solo albums all over the place. Besides his already released Old Money record, as we previously reported, 2009 will also see the debut of El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, a band he shares with Mars Volta vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, alongside members of Hella.
Octahedron tracklisting:
1. "Since We've Been Wrong"
2. "Teflon"
3. "Halo of Nembutals"
4. "With Twilight as My Guide"
5. "Cotopaxi"
6. "Desperate Graves"
7. "Copernicus"
8. "Luciforms"
