Journeyman Vancouver drummer Shawn Mrazek released his debut album as Shawn Mrazek Lives! last year, and with a reissue set to arrive soon on Kingfisher Bluez, the label is also releasing a new 7-inch called "First into the Lake."
This song is a little more jaunty and lighthearted than the triumphant anthems of Thought He Was Dead. Atop bouncy bass and jaunty folk-rock strums, Mrazek sings about childhood pleasures like jumping into jakes, riding go-karts and battling it out for a slice of a cake.
This song will appear on a single-sided 7-inch record, which comes out on Monday (December 15). Hear it below.
The release show will be the label's Christmas party on December 19, which will feature Mrazek along with the Courtneys, Dead Soft, Village, Skinny Kids, Poor Form, Mesa Lusa and Knife Pleats. The show will be at the Hindenburg, with all proceeds going to 1-800-SUICIDE and BC's Crisis Centre.
