The very public fallout between the members of Blink-182 continues, with drummer Travis Barker now telling guitarist Tom DeLonge that he should "man up and quit the band" instead of remaining on an indefinite hiatus.
Barker's latest statement comes a little less barbed than a previous interview in which he labelled DeLonge "ungrateful" for stalling band plans over the years. This time, he says there's no "bad blood" and just wants the guitarist to walk away from the project, Reason being, Barker thinks DeLonge just isn't feeling this anymore.
"I think the right thing for him to do would [be to] just man up and quit the band instead of telling people he didn't quit and just be real with the fans. I think that would give him some closure too and really do what he's passionate about," Barker told Alternative Nation [via Rolling Stone]. "Even amongst all the other projects I do, I can always find a way to prioritize and still be passionate about Blink-182 when it comes around."
In addition to DeLonge's longtime Angels and Airwaves project, the truant Blink member also announced that he has a new solo album comprising various demos on the way. Barker points to this and more as demonstrating that DeLonge just isn't into playing with his pop punk band anymore.
"I love playing, listening and everything about punk rock. It changed my life," Barker said. "I think for Tom, he doesn't like punk music and it was a phase for him."
DeLonge's To the Stars...: Demos, Odds and Ends is due out April 21.
As for Blink-182, the band make their live debut with Alkaline Trio member Matt Skiba at California's Musink Festival on March 22.
